    Just a few short clips from this training day. Mark, Dave and Austin were using double blue bands…which is some crazy band tension. Ryan Spencer does a wild 735 lb reverse band squat. Sorry no audio on that one. Spence is weighing less than 180 lbs. It was fun to watch him get this lift.

    Women’s Pro Meet Flight 2 Squats

    This flight featured lifters in single ply and multi-ply gear. Suzanne Hedman, The single ply ranks were led by Suzanne Hedman, Gia Blackwell, Nicholai Stern and Aura Morris. Multi-ply was led by two lifters who are each amazing in their own right. The amazing Laura Phelps-Sweatt, who is probably the strongest female powerlifter currently competing, and Dana Shealey, who squats, benches and deadlifts with an artificial leg.

    Women’s Pro Meet Flight 1 Squats

    There had never been a cash or “pro” meet devoted entirely to female competitors. In fact, few cash meets even offered any prize money to women. Super Training’s Cara Weston decided it was time to change all that, so she spearheaded the first ever Women’s Professional Powerlifting meet at Super Training Gym on November 7, 2010. Cara rounded up sponsors and Mark Bell donated the admission fees from the SPF Men’s Open Meet the day before in order to sweeten the pot.

    Louie Simmons Still Rockin’ at 63

    Check this video of Westside Barbell’s Louie Simmons lifting at the SPF Luke Edwards Benefit Bash. It’s great to see Louie return to the platform at age 63 and perform so well. If you know anything about Louie as a lifter, you know that over the decades he’s overcome numerous bone breaks, soft tissue tears and even joint replacements to continue training and competing.
